The greatest message we carry as a church body is the message of the gospel. This is the message that Jesus Christ Himself came to earth to proclaim (Mark 1:14-15). "Gospel" means, "Good News." The bad news is that every one of us has sinned against God, admittedly so many times and in so many ways - and our sin separates us from God. But the good news is that God loves you so much that Jesus stepped down from Heaven to come and pay the price for your sin. Anyone who turns away from sin and trusts in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord is "saved" from sin, and promised an eternal home in Heaven.
You sometimes hear us call this being "saved." Saved from what? Saved from sin, death, and Hell (John 3:36, Romans 6:23). Saved to what? Saved to eternal life in Heaven, and a life full of purpose and power here while we wait (John 3:16, 10:10). When we make this choice to turn away from sin and trust Jesus as Savior and Lord, we become followers of Jesus. Following Jesus is a private decision that must be lived out publically. In Matthew 10:32-33, Jesus said, "Whoever acknowledges Me before men, I will acknowledge him before My Father in Heaven. But whoever denies Me before men, I will deny him before My Father in Heaven." Following Jesus is a lifelong pursuit of knowing Him, and joining Him in His work so take the gospel to the ends of the earth.
